This was a comprehensive 110-square-metre transformation project in Bridgend that went beyond a new driveway. The client wanted to completely redesign the front of their property to improve access, add practical features, and boost kerb appeal. Unique Driveways Cardiff delivered an all-encompassing solution, including a new retaining wall, steps, a landscaped planter, and a stunning imprinted concrete driveway.
The existing driveway was not only dated but also had a narrow entrance, making it difficult for vehicles to access. The homeowner wanted to create a wider, more welcoming entrance while also incorporating soft landscaping elements and new steps. The project required careful planning to integrate structural work (the new wall) with the large-scale concrete pour and finishing touches.
To create a clean, modern aesthetic, the client chose a Steel Grey colour hardener imprinted with the timeless Ashlar pattern. This combination delivers a sophisticated look that mimics natural cut stone while providing superior durability.
The project started with significant structural changes. Our team demolished the old front wall and built a new, wider wall, repositioning the entrance to provide much better vehicle access. This immediately made the entire frontage feel more open and practical.
Following the groundwork and preparation of the 110sqm area, we poured our specialist fibre-reinforced concrete. The Steel Grey colour hardener was then hand-cast and trowelled onto the surface to create a smooth, consistent colour base. An antique release powder was applied to provide a natural, two-tone effect and to ensure the Ashlar pattern mats could be imprinted cleanly.
As part of the design, we integrated several features:
The property in Bridgend has been completely transformed. The new, wider entrance and sleek Steel Grey driveway create a powerful first impression. The integrated planter adds a welcome touch of green, softening the large paved area and adding character.
After the concrete cured, our team returned to jet wash the surface, cut the necessary expansion joints for long-term stability, and apply a robust anti-slip sealant. The result is a magnificent, multi-functional frontage that is weed-free, low-maintenance, and built to last. The homeowner was delighted with a finished project that blended practicality, safety, and high-end design.
