This project in the picturesque village of Draethen, Newport, focused on transforming the access routes around a property. The homeowner wanted to replace their existing paths with a durable, attractive solution that complemented the rural character of their home. Unique Driveways Cardiff installed an 80- square-metre imprinted concrete pathway that perfectly blends rustic charm with modern durability.
Pathways often endure significant foot traffic and exposure to the elements, leading to wear, weed growth, and uneven surfaces over time. The challenge for this 80 sqm project was to create a cohesive, safe, and visually appealing walkway that navigated the property’s specific layout while requiring minimal future maintenance.
Given Draethen’s rural setting, the Country Cobble pattern was the natural choice. This design replicates the irregular, textured look of traditional cobblestones, adding immediate character. We paired this with a Slate Grey colour hardener, a versatile shade that provides a clean, sophisticated finish without looking out of place in a countryside environment.

Following the required 24-hour cure, we jet-washed the surface to reveal the full depth of the colour and pattern. Expansion joints were cut to ensure longevity, and a high-quality anti-slip sealant was applied. The result is a stunning, safe, and weed-free walkway that connects the outdoor spaces beautifully and is built to last.
