This residential project in Caerphilly involved installing a stunning 60-square-metre imprinted concrete driveway. The homeowners were looking to add warmth and character to their property’s exterior. We delivered a complete solution that not only enhanced the home’s visual appeal but also provided a robust surface that withstands daily use.
The client required a durable surfacing solution that would complement the red brickwork of their property while handling the practical necessities of a functional driveway. A key requirement was the seamless integration of utility access points, ensuring that manholes did not detract from the overall finish.
To achieve the desired aesthetic, we selected a Brick Red colour hardener paired with a Chocolate antique release powder. This combination creates a rich, warm tone with depth and contrast, perfectly mimicking the look of natural stone.
Our team managed the project from start to finish. Once the sub-base was prepared and the fibrereinforced concrete poured and levelled, we applied the brick red colour surface hardener by hand. After trowelling this into the surface to create a smooth, consistent base, we used the chocolate release powder. This crucial step prevents the texture mats from sticking while adding that authentic two-tone stone effect. We used the Ashlar pattern for this installation. This classic rectangular-cut stone design offers a structured yet elegant look that suits a wide variety of architectural styles.
To ensure functionality met aesthetics, we installed new recessed manhole covers. These were filled with the same imprinted concrete pattern and colour, allowing them to blend almost invisibly into the driveway surface—a hallmark of high-quality professional installation.
The finished 60sqm driveway is a striking addition to the property. The Brick Red and Chocolate colour combination provides a welcoming entrance that stands out for all the right reasons. Once the concrete had cured for 24 hours, we returned to jet wash the surface and cut expansion joints to prevent cracking. The final application of our anti-slip sealant ensures the vibrant red colour remains faderesistant and protects the surface from oil stains and weather damage. The homeowners now have a lowmaintenance, weed-free driveway that combines practical durability with exceptional style.
